Oil paintings exhibition in the PAN AFRICAN MARKET in Cape Town / South Africa
Despite the intense violence raging in these heavenly lands of South Africa, and precisely since they were revolting, you feel you have wings and are inspired. Here, artists can only react and express themselves in a country where respect is almost inexistent. This was mainly the reason that pushed me to stay on in Cape Town for a year and it was within this context of total freedom that artists are able to produce without inhibitions, in an environment of multiplied creativity driven by a strong cultural, political and geographic power. This is where the idea for ‘ La clé de l’Afrique’ was born, naturally. See thel project

Photography : During my early travels to Africa, I used to leave my small camera behind on purpose, clearly displayed on the reception area table and would leave with a small white notebook and an ink pen. It was important for me to do that, convinced that one cannot travel and maintain authenticity, when equipped with a camera…

... however, I saw such strong images, captured such wonderful moments, sometimes so surreptitious, that I decided to share them using this instantaneous means. A photo has no meaning in my eyes, no matter how graphic, unless we can find somewhere in it a person on which our eyes can rest and who conveys to us a precise emotion, a gesture, a look before the immensity, and it’s up to us to measure it on a human scale. You can see, in your turn, what I saw. I hope that you will be as touched by it as I was, I think it’s as simple as that…
